(hereinafter “Bayer”, “us”, “our” and “we”), in its capacity as controller for the processing of your personal data, wishes to provide you with information on the processing of your personal data.
Handling of personal data
In the following, we explain the purpose(s) of processing as well as related to each purpose, the categories of personal data, the legal basis, the retention period and either the source from which the data originate or, if collected from the data subject, whether the provision is a requirement and the possible consequences of failure to provide:
Vacant Position Recruitment
In case you submit your application for the vacant position and thus wish to be considered for the applied position, we process the personal data you submit in connection with your application, e.g. your name, contact details, job and education history, for the recruitment purposes.
The legal basis for the processing of your data for the aforementioned purpose is your consent, Art. 6 (1) (a) General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). In addition, we process your data based on our legitimate interest to defend ourselves against legal claims, and, for the hired candidates, to document the qualifications of our employees (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).
Providing us your personal data is voluntary and you are not obliged to give consent, however in case you do not provide it, we are unable to take you into consideration for vacant position.
The data relating to an application to a specific open position, is stored for 6 (six) months from the hiring decision. However, in case the recruitment decision is disputed, we may need to store your personal data for a longer period, until the dispute is finally solved. Personal data of the applicant hired for the position will be stored for the duration of the employment.
Open Application Recruitment
You may be interested in entering information about yourself in our candidate database. In such case we process the personal data you submit to the database e.g. your name, contact details, job and education history.

For open applications, data of the applicants is stored for 6 (six) months. If you are hired for a position, your personal data will be stored for the duration of your employment at Bayer.
Pro-active information about other job offers
In our recruitment tool you can optionally choose to be informed about other job offers in your country or within the Nordics region. Based on your prior consent, we will use personal data from your candidate profile to identify job offers that may be of interest to you (especially information about your qualifications you provided, e.g. educational background, work history, skills and competencies) and we will use your e-mail address to provide you with the job offers.
To help match your candidate profile with a possible job position, we will use a profiling algorithm that looks at the skills in the job description and historical selection criteria to create the position calibration, supported by candidate pipelines and the match score of candidates and applicants. However, please be assured that no decision will be based solely on automated processing (no automated decision making).
Evaluation and improvement of Human Resources function, processes and services
We may analyze your personal data to evaluate our services and to improve our HR function and processes. For this purpose, we may e.g. send you questionnaires. Analyses will be carried out pseudonymized, anonymized, or in aggregated manner whenever possible. Any corresponding reporting will be done in an aggregated form only which means that it does not contain your personal data anymore.
Special categories of personal data
If you provide us with special categories of personal data (in the meaning of Art. 9 (2)(a) GDPR), such as information concerning your health, these data will be used, based on your prior consent, for the above-mentioned purposes to the extent permitted by law.
Recipients of personal data
Commissioned processing
For the processing of your personal data we will to some extent use specialized service contractors that process your data on our behalf (e.g. for IT-Support or cloud services).
This includes in particular also:
- Teamtailor AB, Östgötagatan 16, 116 21 Stockholm, Sweden, which provides the recruitment platform.
- Recruitment agencies, that recruit candidates for vacant positions.
Such service contractors are carefully selected and regularly monitored by us. Based on respective data processing agreements, they will only process personal data in accordance with our instructions.
Affiliates
We may share your personal data with our affiliates from the Bayer Group, where necessary for the purposes described above.
Authorities and state institutions
We may share your personal data with law enforcement agencies or other authorities and state institutions if legally required or necessary for the purposes described above.
External lawyers
In order to support legal decisions and to pursue or defend against legal claims, we may share your personal data with external lawyers.
Prospective buyers in the context of Mergers & Acquisitions
We may share your personal data with a prospective buyer in case of an acquisition, merger or any other type of corporate or asset transition involving a change of ownership or control concerning us or our services.
Information regarding your rights
The following rights are in general available to you according to applicable data privacy laws:
- Right of information about your personal data stored by us;
- Right to request the correction, deletion or restricted processing of your personal data;
- Right to object to a processing based on legitimate interest or public interest, unless we are able to proof that compelling, warranted reasons superseding your interests, rights and freedom exist, or that such processing is done for purposes of the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims;
- Right to data portability;
- Right to file a complaint with a data protection authority;
- Where you have provided your consent to the processing of your personal data, you may at any time withdraw your consent with future effect. Such a withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of the processing prior to the withdrawal.
